I have to idle it up to 2, rpm to get it to idle at in gear, is this normal or am I missing some thing, I have checked the condenser to make sure the ground was fine and the ignition system is brand new??? If it has a big cam and low stall converter it will pull the rpm down too low when going from park to gear. Also it will feel like its fighting or pulling the breaks when sitting idle in gear with foot on brake. As soon as I shift the car into drive it wants to die. Checked vacuum and the modulator is fine. Shifts and drives great but under load at idle it dies. Any suggestions??? We went through everything, timing, carb etc. There are no vacuum leaks. The engine was just rebuilt with all new everything. We are at our breaking point with this!!!!! Any help appreciated.

Is it possible that the charging ability or lack of, has something to do with it? It seemed to be running OK yesterday, went to a cruise-in and parked it and shut it off. Sat there for a couple hours and lit the neon for a few minutes and noticed that the battery wasn't charging so started it up and drove it home with the guage showing discharge the whole way home.

Once entering the driveway, the engine dies and won't restart without a jump. Figuring the alternator was bad, it was replaced and battery started charging again but then the engine stall, upon putting it in gear, began. Now after an entire day of carb adjustments and vacuum checks, it is still doing it.

We checked the modulator on the tranny and everything seems OK there, carb is working OK too.Truck stalls when I put it in gear. Any ideas would be great thanks.

Do you. You may have a bad IAC idle air control. Try eliminating any vacuum leaks and cleaning the throttle body first. Remove the intake snorkel, have someone hold the throttle wide open for you and scrub the back side of the throttle plate and surrounding bore with an old tooth brush and some carburetor cleaner.

Be sure to spray some into the small holes next to the throttle plate. That should help stabilize the idle. If it still has a problem, replace the IAC. Here is the part you need. Was this answer. The IAC was it.

I bought it took five minutes to install it and it fired right up and did not stall when I put it in gear. Thanks for the answers! This site rocks!

You should still clean the throttle body to prevent further problems. This was a friend of mines truck broken down at my house so I did not know this truck well. It had several things wrong with it and has overmiles on it. I was working with their low budget so I had limited funds available. Along with the other things I replaced when I replaced the IAC valve I replaced the fuel pressure regulator at the same time and inside the spring was broken, rusted and corroded. When I replaced them together it helped until operating temperature kicked in but in the end I still had the stalling problem.

What wound up really finally fixing it was the coolant temperature sensor. What I read at the library was when the truck first starts it runs on the main computer using those settings, but when it gets to operating temperature it goes off of it.For the car, stalling is exactly the dead engine. No one wants to experience this frustrating feel.

The car engine had died due to a wide range of problem-related to the airflow, mechanics, or fuel. Here are a couple of reasons when mentioning to this issue, in particular,…. Your vehicle will have more abilities to stall if it has a manual transmission. The cause of this issue is a stick shift related to the clutch.

Having said that, the automatic transmission utilizes a torque converter. The purpose is to manage the fluid of the transmission as well as it keeps the operation of the engine when stopping.

Is the torque converter faulty? So, it is sure that your engine likely stalls out. Frequently, there are many reasons for failing the torque converters such as overheating, issues related to stall speed, or dirty fluid.

If you want to check the torque converter, it is necessary to test a stall speed. Initially, it needs to determine the RPM of your vehicle. Hence, it is necessary to locate the tachometer yours, by a tool to measure RMP.

Behind the wheels of your car, you ought to place the immobilizers so as to prevent their movement. Then, it cranks the parking brake. It begins pressing the foot brake and starting the engine.

From the park to the drive, it needs to change the gears.

Keep in mind, you do not brake with your foot, instead, you will hit the gas pedal. It continues to press the brake pedal with the other foot in order to engage the pedal of the accelerator for 5 seconds.

It checks the tachometer. It must read low in comparison with what it ought to be.

The first, it removes your foot from the pedal of the accelerator and the next is the brake pedal. Finally, it cranks the parking brake back. Like I said Denny, we don't have a tach on it. The battery would not have anything to do with the stall upon putting the car in gear. The battery is fully charged now and it is still dying when you put it in gear no matter the idle speed. I appreciate your troubleshooting help.

It dies in both reverse as well as drive. Steve just tried a different carb and as soon as it warms up, the stall happens. Unless the idle is set high, it dies. Steve is ready to re-time the cam in hopes that maybe it is off a little. Like I said before this 54 is up for sale soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Statistics is a branch of mathematics dealing with the collection, analysis, interpretation, presentation, and organization of data.

Populations can be diverse topics such as "all people living in a country" or "every atom composing a crystal". Statistics deals with all aspects of data including the planning of data collection in terms of the design of surveys and experiments.

Representative sampling assures that inferences and conclusions can reasonably extend from the sample to the population as a whole. An experimental study involves taking measurements of the system under study, manipulating the system, and then taking additional measurements using the same procedure to determine if the manipulation has modified the values of the measurements. In contrast, an observational study does not involve experimental manipulation.

Two main statistical methods are used in data analysis: descriptive statistics, which summarize data from a sample using indexes such as the mean or standard deviation, and inferential statistics, which draw conclusions from data that are subject to random variation (e. Inferences on mathematical statistics are made under the framework of probability theory, which deals with the analysis of random phenomena. A standard statistical procedure involves the test of the relationship between two statistical data sets, or a data set and synthetic data drawn from idealized model.

A hypothesis is proposed for the statistical relationship between the two data sets, and this is compared as an alternative to an idealized null hypothesis of no relationship between two data sets. Rejecting or disproving the null hypothesis is done using statistical tests that quantify the sense in which the null can be proven false, given the data that are used in the test.

Working from a null hypothesis, two basic forms of error are recognized: Type I errors (null hypothesis is falsely rejected giving a "false positive") and Type II errors (null hypothesis fails to be rejected and an actual difference between populations is missed giving a "false negative"). Many of these errors are classified as random (noise) or systematic (bias), but other types of errors (e.

The presence of missing data or censoring may result in biased estimates and specific techniques have been developed to address these problems. Statistics can be said to have begun in ancient civilization, going back at least to the 5th century BC, but it was not until the 18th century that it started to draw more heavily from calculus and probability theory.

While many scientific investigations make use of data, statistics is concerned with the use of data in the context of uncertainty and decision making in the face of uncertainty. Mathematical techniques used for this include mathematical analysis, linear algebra, stochastic analysis, differential equations, and measure-theoretic probability theory.

Populations can be diverse topics such as "all persons living in a country" or "every atom composing a crystal". Ideally, statisticians compile data about the entire population (an operation called census). This may be organized by governmental statistical institutes. Descriptive statistics can be used to summarize the population data. Numerical descriptors include mean and standard deviation for continuous data types (like income), while frequency and percentage are more useful in terms of describing categorical data (like race).

When a census is not feasible, a chosen subset of the population called a sample is studied. Once a sample that is representative of the population is determined, data is collected for the sample members in an observational or experimental setting. Again, descriptive statistics can be used to summarize the sample data. However, the drawing of the sample has been subject to an element of randomness, hence the established numerical descriptors from the sample are also due to uncertainty.

To still draw meaningful conclusions about the entire population, inferential statistics is needed.
